Sunday’s collapse of the Vintage Collections building at 4th and Market Streets shouldn’t be a surprise to those familiar with the situation.
The business closed this summer after a storm caused it to become uninhabitable and this photo shows why the building was in such bad shape. It was taken by Phil Stoltz from the top of the WSJD building at 331 Market Street on July 7th, 2019. In the photo, you can clearly see big portions of the roof already collapsed as well as large sections of brick falling down next to the adjacent building.
Mayor Joe Judge said this morning that it could be two weeks before demolition takes place while asbestos abatement is performed.
