Cassandra A. Goldman, Wabash County State's Attorney, reports that Michael L. Trost, a 45-year old Mt. Carmel, Illinois man, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Circuit Judge Michael J. Valentine in Wabash County Circuit Court.
State's Attorney Goldman advises that the Defendant was charged April 1, 2019 with Possession of Methamphetamine, a Class 3 Felony. On April 22, 2019, Mr. Trost was placed on Probation for 2 years. After admitting to a violation of his probation on September 16, 2019, Mr. Trost was sentenced to 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by one year of mandatory supervised release (parole). On June 22, 2019, the Defendant was charged with Domestic Battery, a Class 4 Felony. Mr. Trost was sentenced to 2 years in the Department of Corrections, to be followed by 4 years of mandatory supervised release (parole). These sentences are to be served consecutively for a total of 5 years.

That on the 29th day of March, 2019, in Wabash County, Illinois the Defendant, MICHAEL L. TROST, committed the offense of POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE, in that said Defendant knowingly and unlawfully had in his possession less than 5 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine, other than as authorized in the Methamphetamine Control and Community Protection Act, in violation of 720 ILCS 646/60(a). That on the 20th day of July, 2019, in Wabash County, Illinois, the Defendant, MICHAEL L. TROST, committed the offense of DOMESTIC BATTERY, in that said Defendant, without legal justification, knowingly made physical contact of an insulting nature to (NAME REDACTED), with whom the Defendant has a dating relationship, in that said Defendant grabbed (NAME REDACTED) by the neck; and, at the time of this offense, Defendant had previously been convicted of a violation of 720 ILCS 5/12-3.2 in Wabash County 2002-CF-31 on July 29, 2002, in violation of 720 ILCS 5/12-3.2(a)(2).
