The Mt. Carmel City Council has accepted two bids to farm city-owned property. The farmland includes 550 acres at the airport in Lawrence County and 22 ½ acres west of the city. Ivers Farms bid $315 an acre for the airport farm ground while Timberlake Farms promised to pay the city $215 an acre for the ground west of town. Both bidders currently farm the ground and their bids were up slightly over the previous agreement.
