Yield signs at Mt. Carmel intersections will soon be a thing of the past.
Officials have announced that all yield signs in the city are being done away with and will be replaced by stop signs. Most of the yield signs are located on the city’s east side at intersections along Pear and Plum Streets. It’s hoped the change to stop signs will cut down on accidents and near misses at intersections drivers might ignore a yield sign.
In addition, a stop sign will be placed at 4th Street and Golden Aces Way. Changes in city ordinances are required before the switches can be made.
