LAWRENCEVILLE — The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that U.S. 50 between Business U.S. 50 and Illinois 1 will close at 6 p.m. Aug. 15.
The closure is necessary for emergency pavement repairs in a construction zone. Eastbound U.S. 50 traffic will be diverted at Illinois 1 and use Business U.S. 50 through Lawrenceville. Work is expected to be complete by 9 p.m.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
