2 Injured In Effingham County Crash

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12

 

WHAT:                      Personal Injury Crash

 

WHERE:                   IL 32 northbound at 1900N, Effingham County.

 

WHEN:                      05/22/19, 2:34 P.M.

 

VEHICLES:              UNIT #1: Gold 2005 Ford Passenger Car

                                    UNIT #2: Light Green 2007 Ford Passenger Car

 

                                                                                                                                   

DRIVERS:                UNIT #1: Tanisha Watson, 28, Shelbyville, IL

                                    UNIT #2: Dakota Ward, 23, Shumway, IL

 

                                                                                                                                   

PASSENGERS:        UNIT #2: Female Juvenile, 13, Shumway, IL

                                                     Male Juvenile, 2, Shumway, IL                                                                                                              Female Juvenile, 4, Shumway, IL

                                                     Female Juvenile, 3, Shumway, IL

                                   

CHARGES:               UNIT #1: Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident

                                    UNIT #2: Failure to Secure Child in Restraing

 

TRANSPORTS:       Unit #2 driver and juvenile passenger were transported via ambulance from the scene to St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

 

PRELIMINARY:     Preliminary investigation details, Unit 2 was slowed in traffic in an attempt to turn west onto Co. Rd. 1900 Ave. from IL Rt. 32.  Unit 1 driver stated that she took her eyes off of the road and did not see Unit 2 in the roadway.  Unit 1 swerved, in an attempt to avoid striking Unit 2, but was unable to avoid the collision.  Unit 1 struck Unit 2 then swerved off of the roadway and came to rest on the east side of IL 32 in a tree line.
