On 5/18/19 Mt. Carmel Police arrested Christina M. Eckiss, age 31, of Mt. Carmel, for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Endangering the Life of a Child. Eckiss’ vehicle had been called in from a concerned citizen as a reckless driver. Eckiss was located violating a traffic law and subsequently stopped in the area of 8th & Walnut Street. The arresting officer suspected impairment from alcohol so roadside sobriety testing was conducted. Eckiss showed numerous signs to indicate impairment and was placed under arrest. Eckiss also had a child in her custody at the time. Eckiss was transported to the Wabash County Jail where she was charged for the above mentioned offenses and held pending the posting of bond. An assisting officer took custody of the child until another family member could arrive.
