On 4/05/19 Mt. Carmel Police arrested Robert M. Hinderliter, age 32, of Mt. Carmel, for Criminal Damage to Government Supported Property, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting / Obstructing a Peace Officer. Police were called to the area of the 1100 block of N Mulberry Street in reference to a male subject running from the back lawn of a nearby residence. The caller suspected the subject may have broken into the residence. Officers arrived to the area to find Hinderliter running in the area of the 100 block of E 12th Street. The officer attempted to stop Hinderliter but he continued to flee on foot. Once Deputy Bogard arrived on scene with his K-9, Hinderliter gave up and was placed under arrest. Officers found forced entry to the house in question but were unable to determine the owner at present time, since it is unoccupied. A charge of Disorderly Conduct was also taken against Hinderliter, from a nearby resident, who was disturbed by his behavior during the incident. Before transport to the jail, Hinderliter damaged the interior of the patrol vehicle by kicking it repeatedly. Hinderliter was transported to the Wabash County Jail where he was charged and held pending the setting of bond. This case is under investigation with more charges likely. Mt.
