Everyone who’s enjoyed Christmas Uptown in past years has their favorite memories, and each year opportunities for new memories are added to the line-up. For 2019, your sweet tooth gets a boost with the new “S’Mores Station”. Sponsored and manned by Mt. Carmel Kiwanis Club members, the free, “make your own” stations will be located in the open lot between Market Street Mercantile and The River Church on the east side of the 300 block. Of course, few things make better memories than music! In addition to the sounds of the season offered outside by Christmas Uptown Radio, two groups will perform indoors. The lobby of Neikirk Engineering (the area which was previously home to “StoryTime With Mrs. Claus, now moved to the Harris Insurance Pavilion in Merchants Park) will be filled with the gracious sounds of the Fowler Family String Ensemble at various times throughout the evening. Just across Market, the newly formed MCHS Jazz Band will be on stage inside The River Church. Ellen Wall will direct two sets, 6pm-6:30pm, and 7:30pm-8pm. One final event coming back to Christmas Uptown, and joining the Gingerbread House contest in the Wabash County Museum, is the “Local Authors Book Signing” session from 4-9pm. This year’s group includes: Mike Phegley, Sandy Morris, Rick Kelshmeier, Jon Musgrave, Angela Mason, Denny Reece and Celisa Seybold.
Each will be available to sign copies, or discuss, their published works. Christmas Uptown is scheduled for this Friday, December 6th, from 4pm-9pm on Mt. Carmel’s Market Street.
