After more than 13 months, investigators still aren’t releasing any information about the discovery of a body in rural Wabash County. The body was found on October 23rd, 2018 in a farm field north of Mt. Carmel.
At the time, Coroner Shaun Keepes said an autopsy did not reveal a definitive cause of death. He said further examinations would be completed by a Forensic Anthropologist and a Forensic Odontologist to help determine the cause of death and identity to the skeletal remains.
Now, an official with the Illinois State Police tells WSJD that the investigation into the discovery continues. Master Sergeant Gwendolyn Basinger of ISP’s Department of Criminal Investigations based in Carmi told us that the investigation is being handled by her office and she was “unable to comment on an active and open investigation”. The body was found near Asbury Chapel just north of the city limits.
