On August 4th, 2018, at 2:14 a.m. Gibson County Deputy Ben Kiesel conducted a traffic stop on a Chrysler Minivan for traveling left of center on US 41 near County Road 925 South. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Kiesel detected the odor of alcohol on the driver Joseph Sanders, age 30 of Mount Carmel. At that point Deputy Kiesel began a roadside DUI investigation that resulted in Mr. Sanders being taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Mr. Sanders was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. He remains in custody on a $900 bond.
Assisting Deputy Kiesel in his investigation was Fort Branch Officer Jeff Beck.
All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
