At Monday night’s Mt. Carmel City Council meeting, commissioners got their first look at the city’s 2019 budget. And that first look contained a lot of red. Finance Commissioner Joe Judge said it’s projected the city will be $26,270 under their current budget that ends April 30th. But, that’s where any positive news ends as Judge said the proposed budget is $148,000 in the red. He is urging department heads to reexamine their budgets to try and close that gap. A public hearing on the budget is set for April 23rd at 4:45pm.
