The St. Mary’s School 7th Grade Girls Track team, consisting of 7 members, traveled to Lawrenceville to participate in the Ed Loeb Invitational on Saturday, April 21, 2018. The Lady Rockets received the 3rd place trophy with a total of 74 points. Other teams participating in the Invitational included Red Hill (108 points), Marshall (80 points), Mt. Carmel Junior High (71 points), and Parkview (63 points).

Jr. Aces Win Ed Loeb Invitational
The MCJHS Boys went to the Ed Loeb Invitational on Saturday April 21. The MCJHS Boys 8th Grade Team Won First Place with 135 Points over Second place Marshall 120 Points, Red Hill in Third Place with 64 Points and Fourth Place Parkview with 37 Points.
From Coach Joe Judge, "There were 14 MCJHS Boys on this team for this event. Notable performance was 8th Graders Zeke Hadra and Ivan Holt with 2 First Place and 2 Second Place Ribbons . Also 6th Grader Aiden Garwood with Two First Place and Two Third Place Ribbons on the 8th Grade Team. All of the Boys worked very hard for this Accomplishment."

Vernon just played very well. Our young team will be a lot better in the long run for playing quality teams like Mt. Vernon.”
Early Titan Lead Seals Fate For Golden Aces
· Early Lead For Gibson Southern Seals Fate For Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity
· Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 11-4 loss to Gibson Southern on Thursday. Gibson Southern scored on a single by Spindler in the first inning, a stolen base in the second inning, and a single by Smith in the second inning.
· Gibson Southern got things started in the first inning.
· Gibson Southern scored four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Gibson Southern came thanks to singles by Elpers and Brievogel and a home run by Hupp.
· Smith got the win for Gibson Southern. He allowed ten hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out five.
· Kaleb Applebey took the loss for Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity. He allowed five hits and five runs over one inning.
· Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game. Logan Durham and Adam Stoneberger all managed multiple hits for Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity.Stoneberger and Durham each collected two hits to lead Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity.
· Gibson Southern totaled 14 hits in the game. Hupp, Spindler, Smith, and Brievogel each racked up multiple hits for Gibson Southern. Hupp went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Gibson Southern in hits.
Wabash Mission Spring Swing To Feature 80 Games This Weekend In Mt. Carmel
Teams from throughout the area will converge on Mt. Carmel Saturday and Sunday for the Wabash Mission Spring Swing. Organizer Dr. Todd Gill said there are no gate fees this weekend "so it is absolutely free to come watch games. Concession stands will be going at all fields. I know they are having biscuits and gravy at the south end for breakfast. Taco boats, smoked bbq, pork burgers, chili, lemonade shake-ups. 31 teams are coming to town and will play a total of 80 games in two days so we will have games from 8 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. until around 7 p.m. on Sunday. Should be an awesome weekend."

Golden Aces Crush Lawrenceville Despite Early 3-Run Inning
- Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity weathered a push by Lawrenceville in the first inning where Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity coughed up three runs, but Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity still won 14-4 on Wednesday. O'Dell, Beamon, and Kelly each had RBIs in the big inning.
- Lawrenceville opened up scoring in the first inning, when O'Dell drew a walk, scoring one run.
- Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Bret Doan singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity scored on a stolen base during Trevor Peterson's at bat. Then Peterson singled , driving in one, and Logan Durham singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
- Evan Kieffer earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity. He surrendered four runs on four hits over five innings, striking out ten.
- Beamon took the loss for Lawrenceville. He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out one.
- Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity racked up 16 hits in the game. Durham, Kaleb Applebey, Cade Newkirk, Kieffer, and Adam Stoneberger all managed multiple hits for Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity. Applebey and Durham each managed three hits to lead Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity. Tyler Beavers, Bret Doan, Trevor Peterson, and Ashton Walker each had one hit.

Coach Kyle Buss comments: “We got down 7-2 and just looked a little sluggish. In the 5th inning we cut the lead to 7-5 after a big hit by Allyson Armstrong. In the 6th we took the lead 9-7 after the game tying double by Faith Fuller, and took the lead on a base hit from Ella Banks. After giving up 2 in the 7th and not scoring in the 7th, we escaped a big jam in the Top of the 8th which set the stage for Addie Drone and Ella Banks. After a beautiful Addie Drone bunt, Ella Banks ripped a double in the gap scoring Drone from first base. So proud of our girls for coming back and finding a way to win.”

Lady Warriors Continue To Roll
The Wabash Valley College Lady Warriors swept Rend Lake Tuesday winning the first game 8 to 1 and the second scoring the winning run in the 6th winning 3-2.
Jade Montgomery won the first game and is now 20-1 and Hannah Shirley got the win in game two and is now 13-2.
Paige Byrd continues to hit the ball going 3 for 6 on the day and 4 RBI’s.

- Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-2 loss to Robinson on Tuesday. Robinson took the lead on a groundout in the second inning.
- Robinson fired up the offense in the second inning. Childress grounded out, scoring one run.
- Hodge toed the rubber for Robinson. He went five innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out two and walking one.
- Cade Newkirk started the game for Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity. He went four innings, allowing five runs on six hits and striking out five. Adam Stoneberger and Logan Durham entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively.

- Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-5 loss to Carmi-White County on Friday. Carmi-White County scored on a walk by Ethan Mahon in the first inning, a walk by Cole Blazier in the first inning, a single by Drew Huffer in the first inning, and a single by Travis Black in the second inning.
- The Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Carmi-White County, giving up 12 runs.
- Carmi-White County got things moving in the first inning, when Mahon drew a walk, scoring one run.
- Carmi-White County scored five runs in the fourth inning. Easton Stewart, Black, Mahon, Blazier, and Kacee Fulkerson each had RBIs in the frame.
- Stewart led the Carmi-White County to victory on the pitcher's mound. He went five and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out six and walking zero. Blazier threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Hannah Wilson Signs To Play Tennis At OCU
Hannah Wilson, Senior at Mount Carmel High School, signed a National Letter of Intent this evening to play tennis for Oakland City University, Oakland City IN. Hannah is receiving Academic and Tennis Scholarships.

· Mt. Carmel Golden Aces defeated Red Hill 10-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Bret Doan struck out Moore to finish off the game.
· In the first inning, Mt. Carmel Golden Aces got their offense started when Cade Newkirk singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
· Mt. Carmel Golden Aces scored five runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught by Mt. Carmel Golden Aces was led by Kaleb Applebey, Aden Gill, Logan Durham, and Evan Kieffer, who all drove in runs.
· A single by Gross in the second inning was a positive for Red Hill.

Coach Kyle Buss, “What a great come from behind win for our girls. We looked a little rusty at the beginning after being off for a couple of weeks. But our girls battled all game long. We had 14 hits and everybody up and down our lineup played a huge roll. Getting down 5-2 in the 5th we just told them we needed to chip away and get a run every inning. We got 1 in the 5th, 1 in the 6th, then 2 in the 7th. Fun, hard fought win for our girls.”

Tyra Day Coming Soon In Mt. Carmel
A date will be announced soon for the day to honor Mt. Carmel’s own Tyra Buss. At last night’s city council meeting, Mayor Bill Hudson said Buss will be honored soon with a special day in her honor. The date will have to be coordinated with her final few weeks at I-U and where Tyra might land in the WNBA draft this Thursday.
Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Baseball Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Vincennes Rivet
- Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity stole the lead late and defeated Vincennes Rivet 6-1 on Monday. The game was tied at one with Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsitybatting in the top of the fifth when Aden Gill doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
- Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity got things started in the first inning. Evan Kieffer grounded out, scoring one run.
- Vincennes Rivet knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Grant Freeman singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
- Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity put up three runs in the seventh inning. The offensive firepower by Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity was led by Logan Durham and Kieffer, all driving in runs in the inning.
- Kieffer pitched Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity to victory. He lasted six innings, allowing eight hits and one run while striking out six. Kaleb Applebey threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
- Wade Carie took the loss for Vincennes Rivet. He surrendered six runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out ten.
- Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity collected six hits. Kieffer and Gill all collected multiple hits for Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity. Gill and Kieffer each collected two hits to lead Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity. Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Bret Doan led the way with three.
- Freeman led Vincennes Rivet with two hits in three at bats. Vincennes Rivet was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Caleb Mouzin had the most chances in the field with ten.
