Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-5 loss to Carmi-White County on Friday. Carmi-White County scored on a walk by Ethan Mahon in the first inning, a walk by Cole Blazier in the first inning, a single by Drew Huffer in the first inning, and a single by Travis Black in the second inning.
The Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Carmi-White County, giving up 12 runs.
Carmi-White County got things moving in the first inning, when Mahon drew a walk, scoring one run.
Stewart led the Carmi-White County to victory on the pitcher's mound. He went five and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out six and walking zero. Blazier threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Carmi-White County totaled 12 hits. Bryce Northcott, Stewart, Fulkerson, and Black all managed multiple hits for Carmi-White County. Northcott went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Carmi-White County in hits.
