The Jr. Aces were dealt a pair of losses at the hands of the Jr. Paris Tigers Saturday at Riverview Stadium. The 7th/8th grade team fell 26-18 while the 6th graders were topped 20-14.
Quarterback James Brewer tied the game in the 1st quarter with a 25 yard rushing score. The Jr. Aces defense ended the half with a goal line stand to keep the score at 12-6 in favor of Paris.
Second half action included a pair of special teams touchdowns by Jaxson McCleave. Jaxson sprinted 60 yards for a score in the 3rd on a punt return and took a Paris kickoff 75 yards for another touchdown in the 4th quarter. Dion Cirunay chipped in a couple key receptions on 3rd and long.
James Brewer finished with 109 yards rushing on 19 carries. DeSean Knowles took 2 carries for 12 yards. Tucker Buss carried 4 times for 7 yards.
Through the air, Brewer went 6-10 for 69 yards. Cirunay racked up 45 yards on 3 catches. Knowles caught 2 passes for 23 yards.
The Jr. Aces were led on defense by Wade Duckworth with 6 tackles (2 for loss). Nash Cooley, McCleave, and Henry Buchanan all finished with 4 tackles. Ben Johnson, Caleb Keepes, and Cade Wilcox added solo tackles.
The 6th grade team racked up 234 yards of offense with Drake Pinnick going 4-5 for 40 yards through the air while rushing for 61 yards. Stryker Pearson ran for 90 yards on 7 carries, with a 60 yard touchdown (Pinnick conversion run). Zayne Krup added 41 yards on 5 carries and caught 2 passes for 25 yards. Anderson White punched in a 2 yard touchdown run. The team was led by Aiden Weir with 6 tackles and Parker Reel with 5 tackles.
The Jr. Aces host the Marshall Jr. Lions this Saturday for 8th grade night.
