Jr Lady Aces softball win the Carmi Classic Tournament


The Mt Carmel softball girls went 4-0 on the day Saturday, bringing home the Champions title of the Carmi Lady Bullpups Classic Tournament.

The girls started off the day defeating Carmi 7-4 and Olney 12-0 to claim the one seed in their pool. They then defeated Massac County 4-3 in a tough fought bracket game to head to the Championship!! Carmi came back through the bracket for a rematch for the top honors of the tournament. Mt Carmel put up 10 runs over the 7 innings to capture the Championship 10-4 and move to a 12-2 record on the year!!

The girls hit the ball very well all day, only having 8 total strikeouts on the day, while all 10 players each had hits and runs scored! Alivia Toutloff put one out of the park during the Olney game for her first home run of the year! The team batting average for the day was just under .500, scoring 33 runs while only allowing 11.

Pitching was also strong all day, with both Harper Warnken and Brylee Patterson going 2-0 for the tournament. These pitchers had strong defense backing them up with some big catches in the outfield and impressive infield work throughout the day.

The next softball matchup is Tuesday, September 9 as the Jr Lady Aces travel to Fairfield to take on the Colts.
