Lady Aces Prep For LIC Showdown By Beating Mt. Vernon

The Lady Aces Volleyball team traveled to Mt. Vernon on Monday night. 

The Varsity match the girls came out with good intensity. They played aggressive defense and attacked often getting to 18 quickly, with Mt. Vernon at 7. The girls had to fight for the last 7 points with the Rams playing scrappy defense. We won the set 25-17. 

The second set was close point for point action till the end.  The Aces dug in, and played gritty at the end winning the set 28-26. They traded match point a few times with the Rams before taking the win. 

Stats Madi Stevens 2 aces, 14 digs, 1 block kill, 6 kills, Jayla Johnson 3 aces, 14 digs, 3 kills, Maycee Randall, 1 dig, 3 block kills, 9 kills, 1 assist, Kyleigh Smith 1 dig, Lyla Keepes, 3 aces, 15 digs, 2  kills, 1 assist, Tenley Davis 18 digs, 1 assist, Mattie Armstrong 7 digs, 2 kills, 14 assists. 

The JV match was very close the first set 23-25. The girls had a hard time with serve receive the second set, and struggled putting up a strong attack game. They lost the set 16-25.

The Frosh game we won the first set 26-24, but dropped the second 21-25. They had a high error rate the third set losing it 15-6. 

The Lady Aces host a big conference matchup tonight at the hilltop against the Newton Eagles. The winner of this match will be at the top of the Little Illini conference with only Paris standing in their way.  

Frosh will start at 5 with JV and Varsity following. The girls would love to see a big crowd! 

The Aces are collecting relief items for hurricane victims at tomorrow nights game. Items include Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, soap, wet wipes, feminine hygiene products, granola bars, toilet paper, and bandaids.
