Lady Aces' Rally Falls Short As Robinson Prevails

The MCHS Volleyball team faced Robinson, LIC conference competitors Thursday September 14. The Aces previously beat the Maroons in tournament play, but fell short on their home court.

The Maroons took the first set 25-15, the girls just weren’t on their attacking game. With a high hitting error rate, combined with aggressive marroon play the set was lopsided. The second set the Aces rallied and tightened up the hitting errors, but fell 25-23.

Some highlights were the libero Grace Thacker with 15 digs, Kathryn Blake 9 kills, 8 digs, Sarah McCorkle 18 assists, Piper Belt 2 kills, 5 digs, Maycee Randall 3 kills, Madison Stevens 2 kills, 3 digs, Nora Jones 2 kills, 4 digs, Marissa Goldman and Chandler Cusick 1 dig each.

The JV team took Robinson in 2 sets 25-19, 25-18. They had a slow 0-8 start the first set, but came from behind. They started attacking often and sent over very few free balls to help secure the win. Some highlights were Lyla Keepes 2 Aces, 3 digs, 10 kills, Jayla Johnson 3 Aces, 10 digs, 2 kills, Mattie Armstrong 20 assists, 1 kill, Madellyn Bingham 5 kills, Kyleigh Smith 4 Kills, 1 assist, Mercedes Dillard 7 digs, 1 assist, Kyla Militoni 5 digs, Gabi Peach, 3 digs, 2 kills, Tenley Davis 2 digs.

The Fresh/Soph team won both sets 25-20, 25-17.

The Lady Aces will be back at home Thursday, September 21st facing Casey Westfield. Fresh/Soph will start at 5 o’clock, followed by JV and Varsity.
