Monday October 2nd the Lady Aces hosted Mt. Vernon. Varsity team defeated the Rams in 2 sets with scores of 27-25, 25-10. It took a little bit to get our offense going, but once we started passing better it was hard to stop us. The girls had a season high 25 kills, 20 assists, and 54 digs. The girls were playing very we as a team, and didn’t let Mt. Vernon catch any momentum back in the second set.
Some highlights were the libero Grace Thacker with 12 digs, 2 aces, 2 assists, Kathryn Blake 2 kills, 1 ace, 9 digs, 1 assist, Sarah McCorkle 19 assists, 6 digs, 2 kills,Piper Belt 13 digs, 1 ace, 1 kill, Maycee Randall 7 kills, Madison Stevens 11 kills, 1 dig, Nora Jones 1 ace, 6 digs, Marissa Goldman 6 digs, 1 ace, Chandler Cusick 1 dig, 2 kills.
The JV team started strong command in the first set 25-13, The girls had some serve recipes breakdown and more errors losing the second set 22-25. In the last set we started too slow, and came back at the end but could quite get the win, final score 13-15. Highlights were Lyla Keepes 6 kills, 8 digs, Jayla Johnson 14 digs, 5 kills, Mattie Armstrong 16 assists, 11 digs, Madellyn Bingham 5 kills, Kyleigh Smith 2 Kills, 3 digs, Mercedes Dillard 8 digs, 1 ace, Kyla Militoni 11 digs, Gabi Peach, 4 digs, Tenley Davis 2 aces, 5 digs.
The Fresh/Soph team had some long sets and started off strong as well. They took the first set 25-13. We made more errors and dropped the next 2 sets 15-25, 13-15.
The Lady Aces travel to Newton on Tuesday with Fresh/Soph starting at 5 o’clock, followed by JV and Varsity.
This is an important match for the Varsity tonight, with a win can share the LIC conference title. Come support the Lady Aces!
