On Tuesday, September 1st, Yellow Jackets Baseball hosted Jasper for WEAA Conference action and the first home game of the season. The Yellow Jackets held the early lead after one inning, 4-2. But Jasper stormed back in the second inning to take the lead at 6-4. The Yellow Jackets kept battling away and took the lead after five innings, 13-12. But Jasper came back in the top of the sixth inning to take a 16-14 lead. Jasper then tacked on 6 insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning and the Yellow Jackets could only answer back with a field goal in the bottom half of the inning. The final score ended up with Jasper on top of the Yellow Jackets 22-17.
Offensively for the Yellow Jackets: Elliott Acree had a walk, HBP, and scored 1 run; Brady Porter had 4 walks and scored 4 times; Brendan Bowser had a hit, 2 walks, and scored 3 times; Chase Gher had 2 singles, one walk, and scored 3 times; Reed Stinson had a single, walk, HBP twice, and scored 3 times; Kasen Dulgar had a single, walk, and scored one time; Michael Smith scored one run; Rhett Andrews had a walk; and Tristan Bray had a walk and scored one time. Johnny Wholestaff pitched tonight for the Yellow Jackets, as Chase Gher started, followed by Elliott Acree, Kasen Dulgar, Brendan Bowser, and Brady Porter.
The Yellow Jackets are now 1-2 on the season and in WEAA Conference play. Next up: Thursday, September 3rd at Cisne for a 4:30 pm conference game.
