On Thursday, August 27th, Yellow Jackets Baseball traveled to West Salem for WEAA Conference play. The Yellow Jackets got on the board right away and led 2-0 after the top of the 1st inning. Then for the next few innings, it was a back and forth affair and West Salem led 8-7 after five innings. The Yellow Jackets scored 10 runs in the top of the 6th inning and 1 more in the 7th inning to win the game 18-9. This was the first win in two years for Yellow Jackets baseball. Brendan Bowser started on the mound and went 3 innings, giving up 4 runs, 2 hits, 7 walks, and had 7 strikeouts. Elliott Acree pitched the final 4 frames to get the win, giving up 5 runs, 4 hits, 5 walks, and had 4 strikeouts. Offensively, several Yellow Jackets contributed to the offensive output. Elliott Acree had a double, scored 3 runs, and 1 rbi; Brady Porter scored 2 runs and had an rbi; Brendan Bowser had a hit, scored 3 runs, and had 2 rbi; Chase Gher had 3 singles, scored 3 runs, and had 3 rbi; Reed Stinson had 2 singles, scored 1 time, and had 3 rbi; Michael Smith had one hit, scored one run, and had 2 rbi; Rhett Andrews had a single and a double, and scored 3 times; Jax Gher had a single, scored two runs, and had 2 rbi. For the Yellow Jackets, they are now 1-1 on the season and 1-1 in WEAA Conference action. Next up: Tuesday, September 1st against Jasper at home at 4:15 pm.
