Hatchets Chop Down Aces

Nothing came easy for Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity on Monday, as they fell 11-5 to Washington

  • Washington took an early lead in the second inning when Niehaus grounded out, scoring one run.

  • Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity evened things up at two in the bottom of the third inning when Bret Doan singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

  • After Washington scored two runs in the top of the fifth, Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity answered with two of their own. Washington scored when Reed singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run and Holtsclaw drew a walk, scoring one run. Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity then answered when Cade Newkirk singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

  • Washington took the lead for good with seven runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Reed singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Holtsclawsingled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs, and Fry homered on a 0-2 count, scoring three runs.

  • Reed was credited with the victory for Washington. He lasted six innings, allowing six hits and five runs while striking out eight. Rook threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

  • Logan Durham took the loss for Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity. He lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and nine runs while striking out one.

  • Rayce Loudermilk led Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity with three hits in three at bats. Loudermilk led Mt. Carmel Golden Aces Varsity with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with five stolen bases.
