In game 1 of the Allendale Yellow Jackets round robin basketball tournament, the Yellow Jackets defeated West Salem 58-37. The Yellow Jackets led at each stop along the way by jumping out to a 16-9 lead after one quarter and leading 30-14 at halftime. After the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets had extended their lead and was up 47-28. Allendale also won the fourth quarter to finish the game at 58-37. Scoring for the Yellow Jackets was: Kollin Kelsey with 19 points, JD Bowser with 17 points, Matt Jackson with 11 points, Trent Casburn with 4 points, Sam Medler with 3 points, Wyatt Gher with 2 points, and Roland Foster with 2 points. Leading the way for West Salem was Maddix Stuessel with 25 points, Gabe Lee with 8 points, Zach Thomas with 2 points, and Wyatt Greathouse with 2 points. The Yellow Jackets A-team is now 3-2 and will play New Hebron at 7:30 pm for a chance to win the tournament.
Game 3 of the night at the Allendale Yellow Jackets round robin basketball tournament saw New Hebron and Allendale competing for the championship trophy. After one quarter of play, New Hebron held the lead 9-6. Going into half-time, with a bucket at the buzzer, New Hebron led the Yellow Jackets 17-15. The third quarter was nip and tuck, yet Allendale forged a 27-27 tie heading into the final quarter. But, the fourth quarter was all New Hebron, as they outscored the Yellow Jackets 12-0 in the final frame to win the championship 39-27. Scoring for the Yellow Jackets was: JD Bowser with 15 points, Trent Casburn with 9 points, and Kollin Kelsey with 3 points. The A-team for Allendale is now 3-3 on the season.
Next up for the Yellow Jackets: Monday, November 26th at home against St. Mary's. The C-game will begin at 6 pm, followed by the B-game. On this night, basketball and cross country will be hosting a Chili Supper in the cafeteria from 5-7 pm. In the library will be the Scholastic Book Fair, so come out to the school and have some chili, buy some books for Christmas gifts, and watch the basketball teams play.
