First Bank

The First Bank Mount Carmel Team is ready to make great things happen for your business, your farm and your family in our community!

Opened in 2002, our branch on Market and 6th Streets is one of the most visually distinctive among the banks in Mount Carmel. Look for our new burgundy sign at the corner to find your way to our front door.

Expect to be greeted with a friendly 'hello' from our Mount Carmel crew. Branch Manager Leslie Glenn loves the family atmosphere at the branch. We know you will too!

If you're looking for a partner for your business or farm, connect with Reece Metcalf and Anna Fowler. They are well-versed in all things business lending, business banking and cash management – and always there to greet you with a big smile.

Most of our team grew up in Mount Carmel and are proud to live and work in the same town as our clients. They personally support and volunteer for many great causes, including the Golden Aces Sports Boosters, Hope Pregnancy & Resource Center, Kiwanis, Mount Carmel CEO Program, Mount Carmel Area Economic Alliance, Retail Merchants Committee, Rotary Club, Rotary Young Leaders, Wabash County Chamber of Commerce, Wabash County Crimestoppers, and Wabash General Hospital Foundation.

Matter of fact, our Mount Carmel employees are often recognized as the community leaders with the most volunteer hours, and in 2018 First Bank was named 'Business of the Year' at the Wabash Chamber of Commerce annual banquet.

Like you, this crew are big Mount Carmel Aces fans! First Bank clients love our Golden Aces School Spirit Debit Card that earns money for Mount Carmel schools with every purchase. Every year, we donate hundreds of dollars to the Mount Carmel School Corporation.

Cooties Patooties

Head lice. Just reading the words can cause a person to itch and panic. Don’t fret! Help is here! Cooties Patooties, a head lice removal service, is located in Mt. Carmel, IL. Founded in August 2022 by mother of five and registered nurse, Nancy Harness. Nancy understands the stress that head lice can bring to a household. Not to mention the embarrassment. Cooties Patooties offers head checks, as well as, lice removal services without using harmful chemicals. Nancy has treated clients as young as two months up to 90 years of age. Average treatment time lasts about 2 hours depending on hair length/thickness and infestation level. Cooties Patooties offers affordable treatment plans, including Medicaid pricing. No one should have to suffer a head lice infestation.

Head lice can affect anyone. It does not matter age, gender, race, or socioeconomic status. Anyone can get lice! Here are a few Facts of Lice:

· Lice is the plural term for a louse.

· Head lice survive on human blood and cannot live more than about 36 hours without it.

· You cannot get hide lice from your pets and vice versa.

· Head lice cannot jump or fly. But they can crawl. They have special claws that hold onto strands of hair.

· Be wary of some home remedies for head lice treatment. Some are dangerous and others just create a mess.

· Head lice prefer clean hair. It is easier to hold on to.

· The best way to get rid of head lice is by removing it from the hair. Even if you use a chemical treatment, you still have to comb and nitpick.

· Weekly head checks are a great way to prevent a lice infestation.

Coming Soon to Cooties Patooties are our Cooties Keep Away kit. The kit includes a lice comb and a spray bottle of Cooties Away spray. Cooties Patooties can be found off the alley between the Parkview Legion- and True Colors Hair Salon on N. Market St. in Mt. Carmel. You can schedule an appointment by calling 618-240-2178. Timberlake Furniture

This family-owned furniture store has offered its uniquely large selection of pieces for all rooms of a home and more since 1982.

Timberlake Furniture started as most small-town retail spaces do — a store with a select offering of pieces for local customers. But as the years went on, that selection began to grow it was decided to expand the store floor, adding one building to the next. Over 40 years, growing the inventory allowed Timberlake to house one of the largest furniture displays not only in the Tri-State but in the country.

Most furniture rooms have specific areas or rooms dedicated to parts of the home — Timberlake has buildings with wall-to-wall options. All the top-name brands associated with home furnishings can be found in the store’s collections for living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, office spaces, entertainment rooms, and even outdoors.

Growth is to be expected in a successful business. But how does a family-owned furniture shop near Mount Carmel turn into nearly eight-football fields, easy — low overhead and wholesale prices.

Adding home accessories wasn’t the only change the Meador’s brought with them. When the store exchanged hands and Tyson and Morgan officially took ownership, the couple put their own touch on the business while still providing the same customer service and low prices long-time visitors had been accustomed too.

We want to build a business and continue the business that was started that will last more than just our generation,” says Tyson. “We would like to have a business that one of our kids may want down the road; make it successful enough that it keeps getting passed down.”

Roads End Ranch Weddings/Events

2022 marked the 5 year anniversary for Roads End Ranch. What started out as a couple of family weddings on the farm turned into a family business. October 4, 2017 was the first official function as RER was introduced as a new business by the Wabash County Chamber Open House event. On March 24, 2018, a cold blustery rainy day, the first wedding was held in the barn! It was a beautiful celebration!

One of things that sets Roads End Ranch apart is not only the three acres of venue, but a peaceful and quiet space to create a wedding with no distractions. Each year, Roads End Ranch has made improvements and now offers a refurbished barn that can accommodate up to 150 guests plus two spacious outdoor areas that can accommodate 200 plus guests. In 2021 RER added two restrooms and a new space for a bride and her attendants to dress and relax. There is an outdoor catering space and a bar that is attached to the barn. Another feature of this venue is an outdoor wedding space with an arch that was designed and built by Jerry Wilkinson.

Over the past five years Roads End Ranch has increased seating capacity to accommodate 150 guests in the barn for any event.

The goal of Roads End Ranch is to take as much stress away from the couple and family, so they can enjoy their wedding day.

However, Roads End Ranch is not exclusively a wedding venue. They offer space for business retreats/meetings, family reunions, anniversary parties, birthday celebrations, as well as, bridal or baby showers.

Roads End Ranch is a family-owned business primarily operated by Priss Parmenter and Amanda Andrews. When they say family business, they mean all of the family. The Parmenter daughters, Amanda, Lisa and Julie along with the grandchildren, Chloe, Lilly, Aden, Elliott, Anna, Sophie and Emma have all pitched in to help with the building and operation of the business. Since this is their home, you will receive personalized service and attention. Give them a look! You won’t be disappointed! Roads End Ranch!
