Shad Michael Collins, 52, of Carbondale, Illinois, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022, at home.  He was born on March 29, 1970, in Mount Carmel, Illinois, the son of Nancy Garwood.

Shad loved learning and educating himself.  He took a variety of college classes throughout the years.  Shad served in the National Guard and then joined the Army where he was stationed in Germany for two years and participated in taking down the wall.  He was a talented artist who loved to draw from a young age.  Shad was a homebody and enjoyed spending time at home.  He will be missed by his family and friends. 

Shad leaves behind his mother, Nancy Garwood; one brother, Shawn (Cindy) Collins of Princeton, IN; two sisters, Erin (Chris) Kieffer of Mount Carmel, and Shanan (Jamin) Oldendorf of Mount Carmel; nieces, Haley Collins, Taylor Oldendorf; nephews, Noah Collins, Ethan Collins, Aiden Kieffer. 

Shad was preceded in death by his special aunt, Becky Imboden.

Cremation will take place and no formal services are planned.
