Mt. Carmel High School’s 2026 Homecoming festivities begin today, with a full weekend of activities planned for alumni, students and the community.
MCHS Alumni Foundation members Amy Pettyjohn and Nathan Brines recently joined the WSJD Morning Show to discuss the schedule.
The Alumni Uptown Gathering will run from noon until 4 p.m. today at Merchants Park. Food trucks will be available, and Mayor Joe Judge will lead city bus tours at noon and 1 p.m. The tours will highlight recent improvements around Mt. Carmel and discuss future projects.
The Homecoming Parade leaves Mt. Carmel High School at 3 p.m.
Tonight, the undefeated Golden Aces host Olney at Riverview Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the 2026 Homecoming Queen crowned during halftime.
Saturday begins with the 15th annual Gary Wayne Liddle MCHS Alumni Foundation Four-Man Golf Scramble. Registration starts at 7 a.m., followed by an 8:30 shotgun start. The entry fee is $60 per player.
A free breakfast will be held at Wabash General Hospital for this year’s 25th- and 50th-anniversary classes. A tour of Mt. Carmel High School begins at 10 a.m. in the main lobby.
The weekend concludes with the all-school alumni social hour and dance Saturday night at the Mt. Carmel Eagles. The social hour, featuring food and a cash bar, runs from 6:30 until 8:30. A DJ will play from 8:30 until 11:30.
Admission is $15 per person or $25 per couple. The event is open to alumni, spouses and other community members who would like to reconnect with friends.
A free concert will bring the sounds of Southern rock to uptown Mt. Carmel Saturday night as part of Homecoming Weekend.
Market Street MTC’s Summer Concert Series continues with LynSkynyrd, a Chicago-area Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band.
The concert will run from 7 until 9 p.m. at Merchants Park and is free to attend.
Market Street MTC organizer Mike Harris recently joined the WSJD Morning Show and said Homecoming Weekend concerts traditionally attract strong crowds, including many former residents returning to Mt. Carmel.
Food and refreshments will be available from several vendors. Kolb’s Culinary Cuisine will provide food, while Liberty Noble will offer Freedom Cookies and other baked goods. The Snow Shack will also be set up during the concert.
Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Golf carts may also park around the perimeter of the concert area.
Saturday’s performance will be the next-to-last concert of the 2026 series. The season concludes October 10th with a Doobie Brothers tribute band, also performing from 7 until 9 p.m.
Again, LynSkynyrd performs Saturday night from 7 until 9 at Merchants Park in downtown Mt. Carmel. Admission is free.
