With Mt. Carmel preparing for a busy stretch of community celebrations, Police Chief Erin Peach is asking motorists and pedestrians to use extra caution.
During last week’s Mt. Carmel City Council meeting, Peach reminded residents that several events over the extended Fourth of July holiday period will bring increased traffic to the city.
She noted that Market Street will be especially busy with the city's Fantastic 4th celebration and other downtown activities. The area around Riverview Stadium will also see heavier traffic as events continue throughout the holiday weekend.
Chief Peach urged drivers, riders and pedestrians to remain alert, slow down, and be mindful of the increased number of people traveling to and from the various festivities.
"Just be mindful and be paying extra attention," Peach said.
City officials encourage everyone to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and help make the holiday celebration safe for everyone.
