Signups begin tomorrow, November 4th, for Wabash County’s Operation Share holiday assistance program, sponsored by the Wabash County Ministerial Association.
Debbie Meyer of WADI and Kevin McGinnis of the Ministerial Association discussed this year’s campaign during a recent appearance on the WSJD Morning Show.
Meyer says residents can register at the WADI office at 119 West 12th Street in Mt. Carmel, or by calling 618-262-4151. Thanksgiving assistance registration continues through November 19th. Christmas food assistance signups continue through December 17th, as funding allows, while the deadline to register for children’s toys is December 10th.
Last year, Operation Share assisted 300 households at both Thanksgiving and Christmas, providing a total of 600 grocery gift cards. Another 385 children received toys. Meyer says gift cards allow recipients to choose food that meets their household’s needs.
McGinnis says donations to Operation Share stay entirely in Wabash County. Volunteers can sign up to ring bells at wabashoperationshare.com. An intersection collection is also planned for November 14th, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
New toys and monetary donations can be dropped off at WADI. Donations can also be mailed to Operation Share, Post Office Box 1053, Mt. Carmel.
Again, to register for assistance beginning tomorrow, call WADI at 618-262-4151.
