On 5/28/23, Mt. Carmel Police arrested Milburn E. Hornback, age 57, of Bellmont for Aggravated Assault following an alleged road rage incident on outer W 9th Street. Police were called to the scene regarding Hornback accusing another motorist of tailgating him while entering Mt. Carmel. Hornback stopped his vehicle, partially still in the roadway, at which time he began yelling at the other driver while holding a wooden billy club. This alarmed the other driver so they continued on until reaching a safe area in the parking lot of the fire department. Following an investigation into the matter police arrested Hornback and escorted him to the Wabash County Jail. Hornback admitted the allegation and turned over the alleged weapon that was still in his vehicle. Hornback is being held pending a bond setting by a judge. In 2022, Hornback was arrested on a similar complaint investigated by the Wabash County Sheriff's Office.
