Increased patrols by Mt. Carmel Police in the city park caused by recent vandalism to restrooms has also placed a new emphasis on speeding. Mayor Joe Judge said the city park’s 10 mile an hour speed limit is designed to protect park visitors which have increased dramatically the last couple of years. This past weekend, Judge said two tickets were issued by officers to park speeders.
The city council also discussed the possibility of placing a stop sign at the exit of the park’s loop near the golf cart crossing between holes 1 and 10. An ordinance would be needed if the council decides a stop sign is needed there.
