MOUNT CARMEL – On February 22, 2023, Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested 47-year-old Matthey L. Majors of Mount Carmel, IL for one count of Aggravated Delivery of Methamphetamine (Class X felony), one count of Armed Violence (Class X felony), one count of Possession of Methamphetamine (Class 1 felony), one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 3 felony), and one count of Possession of Ammunition by a Felon (Class 3 felony).
At approximately 6:00 a.m., ISP DCI Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force (SEIDTF) agents, ISP Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and Mount Carmel Police Department executed a narcotics search warrant in the 100 block of North Walnut Street in Mount Carmel. Majors was taken into custody without incident.
Majors is currently being held at the Wabash County Jail awaiting a bond hearing. The investigation remains ongoing. No further information will be disseminated by the Illinois State Police.
SEIDTF is comprised of the Salem Police Department, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, the Robinson Police Department, the Mount Carmel Police Department and the Illinois State Police. This investigation was a cooperative effort amongst the member police departments in an effort to curb drug usage and violence in the area.
