Discussions of water issues took up a majority of yesterday’s Wabash County Commissioners meeting. Board chairman Tim Hocking reported that Monday night’s heavy rains caused water to come into the circuit clerk’s office forcing Angie Crum’s office to close yesterday. Crews recently started replacing the courthouse roof and a lack of guttering caused the issue according to Hocking…
Sheriff Derek Morgan said roof work is scheduled to resume today and could be completed by the end of the week if the weather cooperates.
On another water topic, commissioners approved a change order for more $77,000 to replace the entire roof at the jail. Originally, only a portion of the jail’s roof was going to be replaced, but it was discovered the entire roof needs to be replaced.
The final water discussion dealt with the demolition of the former Accurate Tech Building across from the courthouse. Commissioner Rob Dean said crews found water in the basement caused by a broken water line. Dean said Jeff Guisewite, Inc. crews did not cause the broken line.
