WHERE: Intersection of Illinois Route 141 and Shawneetown New Haven Road, White County
WHEN: July 20, 2022 at approximately 8:28 a.m.
VEHICLES: Unit 1 – 2000 Gold Toyota Sedan
Unit 2 – 2023 Black Peterbilt Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination
DRIVERS: Unit 1 – Thurman O. Terrell, 75-year-old male from Ridgway, IL – Flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Unit 2 – Johnathan M. Campbell, 30-year-old male from Carmi, IL
PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling northbound on Shawneetown New Haven Road. Unit 2 was traveling eastbound on Illinois Route 141. For unknown reasons, Unit 1 failed to stop at the intersection and struck the trailer of Unit 2. Unit 1 driver was flown to a regional hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unit 2 driver claimed no injuries on scene. Unit 1 driver was cited for Disobeyed Stop Sign and Driver Required to Wear Seatbelt. There is no further information available.
CHARGES: The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Disobeyed Stop Sign and Driver Required to Wear Seatbelt.
