Wabash County Jobless Rate At 4%

The latest unemployment figures show Wabash County’s jobless rate in April ticked up slightly from March. The April figure stood at 4% compared to the 3.7% in March and the 4.6% level in April of last year. April employment gains were reported in government, trade, transportation, and utilities, leisure/hospitality, and educational and health services. Employment in manufacturing declined in April according to the state. The lowest unemployment rate in southern Illinois was in Hamilton County at 3.6% while the highest of 8.2% was again in Pulaski County.
