Asphalt paving work is expected to start soon on four different areas of the city. The section of streets to be repaved include Pear Street from 3rd to 4th; Mulberry Street from 9th to 10th; 4th Street from Market to Mulberry; and Jaquess from Market to Chestnut. The work will cost just over $52,000 and will be paid out of motor fuel tax funds according to street commissioner Tom Meeks. The repaving is in addition to the chip and seal work that will take place late this summer or early fall as part of the city’s annual summer street maintenance program.
