ISP INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC CRASH WITH INJURIES
The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12
WHAT: Two Vehicle Traffic Crash with Injuries
WHERE: Interstate 70 eastbound at Milepost 109, Cumberland County
WHEN: May 13, 2022 at 5:25 a.m.
VEHICLES: Unit 1 – White 2018 Freightliner Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer
Unit 2 – Blue 2014 Freightliner Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer
DRIVERS: Unit 1 – Mehic Mirsad, a 51-year-old male from Arnold, MO – Airlifted to a regional hospital with serious injuries.
Unit 2 – Shahram Pourfahimi, a 72-year-old male from Cedar Rapids, IA – Refused medical attention.
PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Both units involved were truck tractor semi-trailers. Both units were traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 near Milepost 109 in Cumberland County. For an unknown reason, Unit 1 rear ended the trailer of Unit 2. The driver of Unit 1 was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries. The driver of Unit 2 refused medical attention. No further information will be disseminated.
