Mt. Carmel Man Jailed On Aggravated DUI Charge

On 2/25/22, Mt. Carmel Police arrested James G. Jones, age 58, of Mt. Carmel, for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Improper Lane Usage, Operating Uninsured Vehicle and Driving While License Revoked following a traffic stop in the 700 block of North Walnut Street.  Prior to the stop, officers were notified of a public complaint regarding Jones’ vehicle driving erratically on Indiana 64 approaching Mt. Carmel.  Officers located the suspect vehicle and observed numerous lane violations.  A traffic stop was conducted at which time Jones exhibited several signs of impairment.  After attempting a roadside sobriety check, the officer placed Jones under arrest and transported him to the Wabash County Jail.  After DUI processing, Jones was turned over jail staff pending a bond setting by a judge.  Charges were later upgraded to Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol by State’s Attorney Storckman due to Jones’ prior DUI history.
