ISP INVESTIGATES TRAFFIC CRASH WITH INJURIES
The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 12
WHAT: Two Vehicle Traffic Crash with Injuries
WHERE: E. U.S. Route 50, eastbound at N. Olive Road, Flora, Clay County.
WHEN: Feb. 15, 2022 at approximately 7:45 p.m.
VEHICLES: Unit 1 – Maroon 2009 Honda Accord
Unit 2 – Black 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe (Flora Police Department Squad)
DRIVERS: Unit 1 – Steven A. Durr, a 20-year-old male from Mendenhall, MS – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Unit 2 – A 28-year-old male officer from Flora Police Department – Self-transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
PASSENGER: Unit 1 – Anthony M. McGill, a 20-year-old from Mendenhall, MS - Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigative details indicate the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling northbound on N. Olive Road, approaching the intersection with E. U.S. 50 in Flora. Unit 2 was traveling eastbound on E. U.S. 50, approaching N. Olive Road. Unit 1 failed to stop at the stop sign and proceeded north through the intersection. The front end of Unit 1 struck the front middle passenger side of Unit 2. The driver and passenger of Unit 1 were transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of Unit 2 self-transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No further information will be disseminated.
CHARGES: Durr was cited for Disobeying a Stop Sign, Failure to Yield at an Intersection, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with No Valid Proof of Insurance.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
