Violating Probation Sends Evansville Man To Prison For 3 Years

Kelli Storckman, Wabash County State’s Attorney, reports that Charles C. Brown, a 43-year old Evansville, Indiana man, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Circuit Judge William C. Hudson in Wabash County Circuit Court. State’s Attorney Storckman advises that the Defendant was charged June 16, 2022 with Forgery, a Class 3 Felony. On August 23, 2022, Mr. Brown was placed on Probation for 24 months. After admitting to a violation of his probation on October 18, 2022, Mr. Brown was sentenced to 3 years in the Department of Corrections, to be followed by 12 months discretionary of mandatory supervised release (parole)

FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF OFFENSE: That on the 6th day of June, 2022, in Wabash County, Illinois, the Defendant, CHARLES C. BROWN, committed the offense of FORGERY, in that said Defendant, with the intent to defraud XXXXXXXXXX, knowingly delivered to XXXXX, a banking corporation, being a check in the amount of $963.00 payable to XXXXXXXXX from the United State Treasury, knowing it to have been thus altered, in violation of 720 ILCS 5/17-3(a)(2). A CLASS 3 FELONY
