Bids to resurface 5 ½ blocks of city streets came in so high, that Mt. Carmel officials have decided to put off the work until next year. City engineer Dave Dallas said the work would have encompassed parts of 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, Plum, and Mulberry Sreets. But Dallas said the bids were 45 to 48% higher than expected so he suggested the work be delayed until next Spring, to which the city council agreed. It’s hoped costs will be less next year.
