On June 29, 2021, at 9:06 p.m. Gibson County Deputy Zach Lienemann conducted a traffic stop on a White 1981 Chevy S10 on US 41 near County Road 800 South for making unsafe lane movements. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Lienemann identified the driver as 28-year-old David Marts of Hazleton. While speaking with Mr. Marts Deputy Lienemann detected clues that Mr. Marts might be under the influence of an unknown intoxicant. At that point he began a roadside DUI investigation. Once Deputy Lienemann was finished with his roadside investigation he placed Mr. Marts into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Mr. Marts was charged with Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Resisting Law Enforcement. He remains in custody on a $650 bond.
Assisting Deputy Lienemann in his investigation were officers from the Fort Branch, Haubstadt, and Princeton Police Department. Also assisting were officers from the Indiana State Police and Gibson County Sheriff’s Office.
All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
