Illinois communities with less than 50,000 population are still waiting on Governor JB Pritzker and the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to request American Rescue Act funds from the federal government. Counties, including Wabash, have already received the first half of their monies, but Mt. Carmel Mayor Joe Judge is frustrated at the lack of urgency at the state level for smaller communities…
Judge urged the Governor’s office to contact the feds and get the process going in getting the money released. Previously, Judge said Mt. Carmel stands to receive $865,000 from the Rescue Act, if and when the money is ever released. Wabash County has already received half of the $2.2 million it gets from the Rescue Act. The other half will arrive next year.
