Traffic stop leads to arrest of Cynthiana woman

On April 29, 2021, at 2:15 p.m., Gibson County Deputy U.B. Smith conducted a traffic stop on a Red 2001 Ford Escape on Old US 41 near the Kings Mine Exit.  Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Smith identified the driver as 26-year-old Samantha Payne of Cynthiana.  During a roadside investigation Deputy Smith discovered that Ms. Payne had an outstanding warrant through Vanderburgh County.  While taken Ms. Payne into custody illegal drugs were found in her possession.  Once the items were secured by Deputy Smith Ms. Payne was transported to the Gibson County Jail where she was charged with Possession of Methamphetamines and Possession of Marijuana.  She has since posted a $750 bond.
