The Wabash County treasurer’s office yesterday mailed 700 certified delinquent tax notices. The 700 notices cost the county almost $7 each to mail and amount to $542,000 in tax monies still due. Treasurer Beverly McBride reported at yesterday’s county board meeting that $10,598,000 in property taxes has been collected so far which amounts to 95% that was levied. To keep your name out of the newspaper, taxes have to be paid by February 26th and McBride said the tax sale is set for March 19th. Also yesterday, McBride said her office issued the second distribution to local taxing bodies of just over $1.6 million.
