ISP TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT
WHAT: Personal Injury Traffic Crash
WHERE: US 45 at Interstate 64 Eastbound entrance ramp, Wayne County
WHEN: Feb. 19, 2021 at approximately 4:45 p.m.
VEHICLES: Unit 1- 2012 White Ford Edge
Unit 2- 2009 Gray Buick Lucerne
DRIVERS: Unit 1- Tracy Williams, 52-year-old female from Flora, IL – Flown to a regional hospital for treatment of injuries.
Unit 2- James Newman, 87-year-old male from Enfield, IL - Uninjured
PASSENGERS: Unit 1- 8-year-old male from Flora, IL - Uninjured
Unit 1- 11-year-old female from Flora, IL - Uninjured
PRELIMINARY: Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling south on US 45, attempting to turn left onto the Interstate 64 eastbound ramp in Wayne County. Unit 2 was traveling north at the same location. The driver of Unit 1 failed to yield right of way and turned in front of Unit 2, striking Unit 2 head on. The driver of Unit 1 was flown to a regional hospital for treatment of injuries. The driver of Unit 2 was uninjured. The juvenile passengers of Unit 1 were uninjured.
CHARGES: Unit 1 Driver was cited for failure to yield right of way while turning left.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
