MCPD Chief Offers Update Into November Crash & Manhunt

A multi-state search continues for the suspect involved in a three vehicle crash last month in Mt. Carmel after he had delivered stolen skid steers in Lawrence County. The incident occurred on November 27th with the suspect driving a stolen truck and trailer from Georgia crashing into two other vehicles at 9th and Market Streets in Mt. Carmel. Authorities say the suspect fled on foot and the last report from police said he had hitchhiked to Princeton. But at Monday night’s city council meeting, Mt. Carmel Police Chief Mike McWilliams said the investigation revealed the man made his way to the bus station in Evansville and travelled to Nashville before winding up in Atlanta before 3:00am the next day. McWilliams said the focus of the investigation right now is on Lawrence County law enforcement where the stolen skid steers from Georgia were delivered.
