Judge Expects Parts Of Illinois Could Reopen Before April 30th

As it stands now, Governor JB Pritzker’s stay-at-home order runs through April 30th in Illinois. And while a lot of people expect that order to be extended, could some counties in the state actually see some restrictions lifted before then?

Mt. Carmel Mayor Joe Judge has been a part of dozens of conference calls with the Governor, President Trump, and even Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Judge thinks, yes…we could see some of the restrictions lifted by the end of the month….

The mayor expects an announcement on the county by county reopenings as early as next week….

As of yesterday, Illinois had 23,247 cases of corona-virus, but nearly 21,000 of those cases were in Chicago, Cook County, and three collar counties. Those numbers and their concentration in the Chicagoland area are a big factor in hopes downstate areas not nearly as impacted will open sooner than later. Wabash County is still reporting just one positive COVID-19 case.
