On the heels of one Market Street building collapsing last year, city officials have cordoned off two more buildings…this one at 6th and Market Streets. At last week’s city council meeting, Mayor Joe Judge said the street department put barricades around the building the previous Friday…
Judge said since it was impossible for the necessary repairs to be done within the two week deadline, he anticipates the city being stuck with the properties. He said an asbestos inspection would take place after which it would be determined how much it will cost to tear the buildings down. According to Judge, the two buildings were bought last year on a tax deed.
