The city of Mt. Carmel has used a federal program to acquire two vehicles for the water department at a greatly discounted rate. Mayor Joe Judge and Street Commissioner Tom Meeks recently traveled to Wisconsin to pick up the lightly used vehicles acquired through the federal vehicle surplus program. According to Judge, the vehicles were purchased for about half the price of what they would have been if bought through a dealership.
