Mt. Carmel Woman Sent To Prison For 3 Years On Domestic Battery Charge

Cassandra A. Goldman, Wabash County State's Attorney, reports that Heather M. Fugate, a 32-year old Mt. Carmel, Illinois woman, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Circuit Judge William C. Hudson in Wabash County Circuit Court. State's Attorney Goldman advises that the Defendant was charged October 24, 2019 with Domestic Battery, a Class 4 Felony. On January 14, 2020, Ms. Fugate was sentenced to 3 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by 4 years of mandatory supervised release (parole).

FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF OFFENSE:

That on the 23rd day of October, 2019, in Wabash County, Illinois, the Defendant, HEATHER M. FUGATE, committed the offense of DOMESTIC BATTERY, in that said Defendant, without legal justification, knowingly made physical contact of an insulting nature to XXXXX, with whom the Defendant resides, in that said Defendant struck XXXXX; and, at the time of this offense, Defendant had previously been convicted of a violation of 720 ILCS 5/12-3.2 in Wabash County 2017-CM-70 on August 1, 2017, in violation of 720 ILCS 5/12-3.2(a)(2). A CLASS 4 FELONY
